OWL Love You... Forever

I have been on an Owl Overload! But I enjoy Overloads sometimes!  What first started, last year with these Owl Pillows has led to more and more Owls!  Maybe I'm a sell out, capitalizing on the Owl Craze, but I don't think so. I'm remembering in the 70's, during the last Owl Craze, even my own Step-Grandmother was an Owl Freak... I liked her a lot and wish she could've stayed by Step-Grandmother... not to be.

So first I crocheted these Owl Pillows. There have been many colors, and they were sold, and also became Christmas presents last year.  That led into the Owl Hats (which I have been very busy making, many colors and sizes!)

Soon following the Owl Hats, I had a custom order for an Owl Pin/Brooch. This is what a developed for that request.  I will be making more of these in many colors, which will be available soon, straight from me, or maybe on Etsy.  These are my own design, as all my crochet works are.

All of that dreaming of Owls, and Valentine's Day was also approaching. I was inspired by own Luv-N-Kitties and my dreams of Owls, which developed into these Luv-N-Owls!  I made 3 for my weekly sale, the week before Valentines Day, and soon had an abundance of orders, which needed filling in a week's time! I didn't know these would be so popular, and had the dream of them not come so late in the season, I maybe could've made even more money from them!

They are fun and ever so LOVEly, and include a hand-drawn little card that fits into the Owls Heart Pocket, with an Owlish Love Quote, such as "How Loves Ya Baby", "You're a Real Hoot", "Owl Love You", etc. These are also my own idea and pattern, as usual.  Look for their return next year, and HOOOOO knows, maybe they will reincarnate as another HOOOTY Creation! You never know with OWLS!!

Who Are YOOOU?.... an owl hat

So far 2014 is filled with Owls!! Owl hats particularly.  Someone thought my Owl "Pillows" were "Hats" while viewing online, and requested one from me. I said, yeah, I've got Owl Hats... then hurried and made this hat, which had been floating in my head for quite a while.  She bought the hat, and since then I've mainly been working on these little HOOTS.

It's always great to get a kick in the butt sometimes......

Crochet Boot Cuffs

These are the new Boot Cuffs I've been working on. They are like short leg warmers that tuck into your boots, then stick out for just a bit of "leg warmer". Just a little bit extra leg warmth does the trick, and I've discovered they are very good when you need to go out in the thick snow to shovel yourself out. Once you're all done with your shoveling, you just take them off, and your pants are still warm and dry.

They are reasonably priced at $15 plus shipping.
They should be in my poppycat Etsy Shop soon!

New Sweater for Bosley

There is a new man in my life. His name is Bosley, and I love him! My boyfriend has adopted him and I'm lucky to get to enjoy him also! He is so funny and cute!!

So it's getting cold, and this little one has sleek, short fur... not the best for high elevation living! So I got right on it and designed and crocheted this sweater for him. I learned the ribbed stitch to make a nice collar.

I will take custom orders, since it seems hard to match to the many different sized dogs there are. Contact me and we can discuss details for your dog!

crochet flowers

I've been crocheting flowers again, trying to dream up new designs. These are 100% wool, crocheted, then felted. They have leaves attached. Also sewn on the back is a pin, making them all ready to be attached to a hat, purse, headband, or whatever is dreamed up. I sewed on the back of this batch a piece of felt to make them a little bit more sturdy, so that they don't curl up, as some that I made in the past did. They add festivity to your ensemble!

Hats Available

I've been making some hats this winter..... some slightly hippie or maybe grungey type of hats.

Or maybe they're just woodsy and mountaingirlish.

Well whatever you call them, they are soft and cozy and keep you good and warm. See some in my Etsy shop.

Also, I was part of a shop last December. Luckily my smARTS/blogging buddy, Mother Bliss, got some good pictures of the little shop., including my little section.

Winter's Comin

Well, no it's not here already, but it is cooling off rapidly up on the mountain! I hear it's already in the 60s, in the day, up in Montana. So yes, it's time to start preparing for the hardships of Winter. And for me that means to start crocheting lots of arm warmers.

I've got a few new pairs in my Etsy shop now. And you can look for more coming soon.
I'm going to enjoy the few remaining warm days I've got. I've got some flower seed to collect in my garden...flowers and apples!

Happy Mothers Day!

I hope all of you Mother's got some lovely flowers or whatever your heart desired for today! I enjoyed my day with my son, and received some goodies including some flowers. Delphiniums for my garden.

I've been learning how to crochet amigurumis the last couple weeks. I've made 3 of my own designs now. With each one, I improve a little in my skills, learning little tricks. The little girl "Miss Mousey is #2.

And this is my 3rd creation, her little friend, "Manley Mouse," named after Almonso Wilder, of course. He's all ready for hugs. I may offer some of the little cuties in my shop soon.

Pretty colors for your hands (and arms)

I've created more arm warmers for the new year. I completely sold out over the holidays, both on Etsy and around my town. That was helpful for my holiday spending. So along with making new prints of my art, I've also been doing some crochet. I've sold a new pair already, but I'm ready for more sales during this slow January.

I wasn't sure how the green and blue pair would turn out. I love this green and I liked the combo with the blue, but I thought it was going to be too bright. As I finished them I loved them more than I thought. I enjoy the colors, and sometimes our winter lives needs a little cheerful color! They were named "Beachcomber" because the colors are so beach-like to me.

I love this pair too. They have some wonderful yarn that adds this great texture. Wesley helped me name them "Oceanic Moon." I just can't decide which is my favorite!

On a related note, colorada from Etsy was kind enough to mention me on her blog, Delight::Destiny. That was a delight to see! She seems to like the arm warmers as well. That's nice. Go check out her blog for other good finds!

Always crocheting lately

I guess people want to keep their arms warm because my gloves are my most popular item lately. I think they also make a good gift, and of course people are buying lots of those right now! And they are so trendy! So as a result, part of my time is going to crocheting lots of arm warmers!

I'm going out of town for the weekend. It's my cutie, twin nephews' second birthday. I'll have to bring my yarn and keep busy down there. I just have no time to spare right now. I know everyone feels the same.

You can see a selection of these in my arm warmer section on Etsy. And if you're not a member of Etsy yet, by all means sign up! It's easy and you can find the most superb, unique gifts there! I've got a good start on my shopping already done, mosty from Etsy. It beats going to the mall any day!

Been Crochetin'

I'm feel Autumn is coming soon. Sure it's still pretty hot up here in the mountains, but we could have our first coldish night any time. So I've been wanting to crochet. I like to crochet, but not too much in the summer. But it feels good sometimes to do something that doesn't take a lot of thinking. Sure I've got to pay attention to stiches, to make sure I have a matching pair. But basically, it doesn't take much energy, just patience.

You can see some that I've made over on Etsy right now.

Plum Wine - fingerless gloves

The colors of these arm warmers/fingerless gloves scream to be called "Plum Wine". They are crocheted with 3 types of yarn - a dark plumish soft chenille-like yarn, a wine colored yarn that has a bit of bumpy texture to it, and a mixed fluffy, fuzzy yarn in the colors of green, brown, and small amount of teal. These are funky and chunky and fun and oh-so-soft and warm! I just couldn't think of an idea for a painting so I did some crocheting last night. It can be very theraputic to me and it's nice to do something productive while watching TV. Especially when it's something so mind numbing as "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Bachelor". Did I just announce that I watch those shows? Yes, I'll admit it, but at least I was working at the same time!

-SOLD-

Soon I'm going to start an Etsy-Pick-Of-The-Week. This will be focusing on one seller each week. I'll try to do it weekly, on a certain day of the week, which is to be determined. I love so much stuff I see for sale there, and I love the site, so I wanted to do some promotion for it. Stay tuned.

Long Fingerless Gloves

I was out of town for a few days. While at my mom's I was able to crochet these arm warmers/fingerless gloves. They look like candy stripes to me- for the girl who like bright colors or pink.
  • See them on Etsy, here.

  • We had to come home early since my son got sick. It's a real bummer to be sick when you've got the week off of school. We were planning on going to Disneyland yesterday too. He's got a fever and there's lots of germs at my house right now. My throat was a little scratchy on Monday, so I took some Airborne, and am taking it twice a day. So far, so good. We'll see in a few days if I get sick or not. If not, I'll probably have Airborne to thank for that!

    New wrist warmers-fingerless gloves

I made these cozy wrist warmers, or a longish fingerless glove. They are a very woodsy type of green. They look like forest moss. They're made with an acrylic "mohair" yarn and they are kind of fuzzy. I really love the wool yarn that is hand spun by so many people these days, but I get an itchy feeling sometimes with wool. So this pair of gloves is for the people that are sensitive to wool.

Now that I've figured out this pattern, I will make some more using a variety of yarns. And I like them so much that I must make a pair for myself as well.

  • You can find them for sale now on Etsy.
  • They're only $10.00.
