Idyllwild goes Idol-Wild

Yes, Idyllwild is bonkers over Casey Abrams! Or I am at least.... well it's true, me, the town and many other non-Idyllwildians, that's for sure. He's so very talented, and now has gotten the one save of the season. I hope he has lots of non local fans. Being from such a small town could hinder someones's chances. But at least the town is passionate about it, and of course his own talent will help, I'm sure.

Tonight is another elimination. After last week, the nerves are on edge!

This is a little drawing from Idyllwid Arts Academy's web site. They are very excited too.

Good lucky Casey!!

more pendants

I ordered some more cabachons for my pendants a few weeks ago, and have put a few into my Etsy shop. Little prints of my art work art encased in resin on the antique brass cabs. I also purchased some vintage glass pieces to put onto the necklace with the pendants. They are also made with antique brass chain. Kind of Steampunk lookin.

So far I have the Perplexed Little Flapper.

There's also my older little Martini Cat, (also known as "Roses and Martinis." I'll be adding more as I get them finished and pix taken. Find the jewelry section of my shop here.

This last week while watching American Idol, my friend calls me to say "Is Steven Tyler wearing one of your pendants?" I cracked up! So now I find this pix of him, not from last week, but another night. Not my pendant, but same type, different art. And now you too can be like Steve, how cool is that?!!!

Be the Change

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world."--Mahatma Gandhi

What a wonderful quote! And how honored I am to have my little drawing accompany this nice sentiment!

So my bulldog creation turned out pretty good, embroidered on the varsity jacket. What fun!

And I'm still trying my best to be that change I want in the world.

The Martha Blog (Stewart that is!)

Have you seen The Martha Blog yet? I just read about it today, so I went to check out the industrious Martha Stewart's blog. She features some behind the scenes of her busy life. It seems like an easy way to learn of all of Martha's Good Things!

Leave a comment on her post entitled "How to create your own blog and enter my blog contest!" and possibly get featured on her blog. How fabulous would that be?!

Wordle For Fun

Today I discovered wordle, a place to make your own word cloud out of any words, or even your blog. You can customize it with different colors, shapes, fonts, and direction of the words. It makes a little bit of poetry arranged in a digitally-artistic manner.

If you've got a little bit of time to kill on your computer, give it a try, it's fun!

Mother's Day Award

The so sweet and talented Emila over in Malaysia gave me this ever-so-special award. How honored I am that she thought of me! Click on the award to see Emila's long list of other Great Moms.

Why can't I be more considerate and give little awards like this? I guess it's one thing on my long list of improvements I need to accomplish in the rest of my life!

So until then I must give this award to all the mothers I know in blogland! (and those I know in the real world as well!) I'm sorry I can't list them all, but you can find quite a bit in my fab blog list over on the right :) I know, what a cop out!!

Jenny's Vintage Kitchen Swap - 2007

I participated in the lovely Jenny's Vintage Kitchen Swap last month. I love anything vintage, and my entire house is basically filled with old stuff, except for my electronics. But vintage kitchen has got to be my favorite. I like my kitchen to look very cheerful. Maybe it's a way to try to make myself seem like I'm an old fashioned housewife who makes lots of homemade bread and other goodies, and always has an extensive, healthy meal at hand. Which I'm not! But it's nice to dream! So I decided to join in on the fun with the other wonderful girls and get myself a swap partner, and hopefully be able to send something her way that she would enjoy.

This is the package sent from Melissa out on the Jersey Shore all the way out here to California. Very Spring-like in it's packaging!

This is the oh, so fun, collection of goodies sent to me from my swap partner. How much fun to open and find the surprises! There's an old tin box, vintage inspired yellow bowls (so very cheery and always needed!), a muffin tray that I can always use for sorting my supplies, a very old pie tin, very quaint recipe cards with an adorable crochet flower, three vintage inspired cookie cutters (some that I don't have-amazingly!), and my son's favorite - a goody bag of yummy Easter chocolates (those didn't last long). What fabulous stuff! Thanks so much Melissa! It was so wonderful meeting you!

I love this sweet tin box the most! I have an extensive tin box collection. I'd rather store all of my supplies in an adorably-old tin box, than a new plastic box with no personality. No matter how many I get, I can always find something to put inside of them. So I put my collection of tiny boxes inside this cute one from Melissa!

Phoebus really liked the leftover tissue in the box from Melissa! What a cozy bed!

These are the goodies that I sent to Melissa. She collects Mexican floral batea trays and I wanted to get her one. I know I have one floating around in my shed or somewhere lost in my house. I looked, but no luck. Just couldn't find it. I was bummed about that. Instead, I decided to paint my own batea-inspired little plaque. I like how it turned out. I hope she had as much fun in this swap as I did! And thank you, Jenny, for organizing the fun event. Hope to do it again!

Spring Fling Tea with Artsy Mama

So glad you could stop by for a relaxing cup of tea in honor of springtime! Artsy Mama was so very kind to host this lovely party in which visitors from around the world attended. You should definitely drop by her place to join in the festivities!

I love any excuse to use some of my vintage tea cups. I'm sorry I couldn't make some hand made crumpets of some sort, but I do have these yummy mint-chocolate cookies made by Newman's Own Organics. I was busy volunteering at the school today, so I couldn't find the time to bake. I'm making it to the party just in time for tea time on the west coast - 3:30 pm.

Also, while you're here you should take a walk amongst the garden and see the fruit trees in bloom. Here's my plum blooming early in the warmth of this early spring on the mountain. Believe it or not, we'll probably get another freeze here before June, so these beauties will probably not transform into a fruit. This is the life on a mountain in Southern California.

I'm a huge fan of tea, be it hot or iced, green, black or any color. I can guzzle a pot of it down each day in winter. In summer my glass of iced tea is never far away. It's so nice that the beverage can be so beneficial for your health as well. It makes it fine to overdo it and have cups and cups of the stuff. So sit back, relax and have another cup! Happy Spring to you all!
